"I will strip away all that you know, all that you love, until you have no shelter but mine."
⚠️ If you haven't read Shadow & Bone and Siege & Storm, there are mention of some events in this Review which might spoil the story for you ⚠️
Power of Stag and Sea Whip, she's got it all and Alina craves for the Power of the Firebird
Handful of Grisha survived the Darkling's attack on Os Alta and they had no choice but go underground under The Apparat's refuge to escape Darkling and his Shadow Army.
Alina's last encounter with Darkling left her weakened and also her hair glistening white. Her attempt didn't kill him rather merely vitiated him. She can't use her power staying far below the ground. Alina has to go above ground not only to use her power but also to find the Firebird which will complete Morozova's set of Amplifiers even though if it means risking being caught by Darkling.
With no news about Prince Nikolai, everyone is hoping he escaped and he is their only hope to free Ravka from Darkling.
Alina's relationship with Mal remains strained and it doesn't get better with dangers falling upon them with every passing minute.
Nikolai's proposal of being his queen and bringing Grisha & commoners together doesn't make it any easy for her to decide.
But first she has to kill Darkling and hope that the Shadow Fold destroys with him.
✨✨✨
Again, Leigh has managed to lure us in her world. When I first started reading the book, I had no idea it would be knitted so beautifully and thoughtfully, she has embedded every single page with detailed layout of the story. Her every character has their own story and they all are protagonists in their own way. The characters carry themselves gracefully rather than leaning on the people at center of the story. Genya, Zoya, Tamar, Tolya, David, Baghra without any of them this story wouldn't be as reverent and magnificent than it is with them and their stories. The end of Ruin and Rising is bittersweet and still feels like it's the ending that was meant to be. There will be some revelations and it may come as a shock... But they fit perfectly in the story and makes sense of the things we read within first few pages of Shadow and Bone. I cannot say enough how much I love this trilogy but trust me, it's worth reading and worth dwelling our hearts to the people.
