"Why won’t you leave me alone?” I whispered one
night as he hovered behind me...
“Then I’d be alone, too," Darkling said

⚠️ If you haven't read Shadow and Bone, there is mention of some events in this Review which might spoil the story for you ⚠️
The Power of Stag... The Darkling thought he'd gain it all by laying down collar around Alina's neck...
But Alina isn't what she was before. She's more than an orphan among strangers, She's a Grisha and she's the Sun Summoner. She has embraced the power of Morozova's Stag and it flows through her.
Alina escaped The Darkling with Mal and they are on constant run across Fold. But... No one can escape from the Darkling, atleast not for long. The Darkling didn't take her back to Ravka, instead they were on seas to hunt yet another Morozova's rare creature...
No other Grisha has ever had more than one Amplifier.
'What is infinite? The universe and the greed of men'
The Stag around Alina's neck seeks the power of other Amplifier...
With the help of mysterious pirateer Sturmhond, she gets the second Amplifier and again escapes Darkling...
She returns to Ravka and takes Darkling's place as commander of Second Army. Most of Grisha have fled or a part Darkling's force ; the ones who remain are unsure about Alina as their leader...
The Apparat had taken advantage of Alina's absence and Darkling's coup to declare Alina as a Saint who will free them from Shadow Fold. Ravka is overflowing with religious people under her faith ready to give their lives for Sankta Alina under name of Sun Army.
Alina goes with the act and hopes that they'll indeed fight for her.
Alina has to hold her fort, bring the broken Grisha army together, control the faithful under Sun Army and command all of them to fight against Darkling when the time comes.

To be honest, while reading Siege and Storm I felt that there's a deeper complexity to The Darkling's character. I couldn't put my finger on this while reading the first book, but in second its evident. The way he talks and reaches out to Alina. As I've finished reading the trilogy, I won't spoil it for you but trust me this series is worth every minute I spent reading it. It's so detailed and Leigh has brilliantly penned the plot. The way the climax builds and story unfolds, it all makes sense. The unanswered questions in Shadow and Bone are signified in this book while new questions starts clouding... This is like way beyond a genius story. I absolutely enjoyed reading this and fell in love with all the new characters Leigh Bardugo brought in her pages.
I'll be tight lipped about Sturmhond because I feel like reader should see his story on their own. The Shu Han twins Tamar and Tolya become our absolute favorites. Though Genya's occurrence in this book is scarce but it leaves a big impact at end and in next book Ruin and Rising. We can't help but feel all kinds of emotions for Mal. Mal now being kind of the only love interest of Alina, he is depicted in a way who seems relatable. His jealousy, anger, worry and love towards Alina has impact on what decisions she takes. There will be times when we absolutely hate him and then we'll just love him more. These are the kind of characters Leigh has brought in our lives.
Do read this series!!!! ❤️
